For ‘self-funder’ customers Medequip provide independence equipment assessment and purchase facilities. Wherever possible we believe you should have the right to choose and to try equipment before you buy and therefore we provide assessment areas and retail displays at our distribution centres. Here we display a range of both daily living aids – smaller gadgets and innovative products which are not normally provided by community equipment services, but that can be vital to people who wish to remain independent and live at home.

We also display larger products such as rise and recline chairs and powered bath lifts alongside the latest rollators and other mobility aids.

Our trusted assessors are on hand at all of our locations to guide customers through the equipment options that best suit their needs.

Whether a customer just needs a Helping Hand reacher or a more complex equipment option, Medequip can offer the widest range of choice coupled with our expertise and experience to ensure each person’s individual needs are met.

Independent Living Centres

Medequip operate 2 Independent Living Centres, one at Stores Road in Derby and the other in partnership with the Independent Living Centre in Semington. Both are unique set up to allow clients to get personal assessments and advice before making any purchase of equipment. Extensive ranges of products are displayed and customers can get ‘hands on’ with every product. At Semington there is even a ‘test track’ for mobility scooters and walking aids to try.

The Medequip Centre offered competitive prices for good quality equipment. The room setting was ideal for looking at different solutions and seeing the quality of the equipment before we made a decision on the piece of equipment we needed. The toilet frames we purchased have made a real difference to the users of our club. During our visit, we also picked up a catalogue and other leaflets on a range of services.

Retail Partners

Medequip work with other trusted retailers in our contract trading areas to ensure that self-funding customers are signposted to a choice of providers. These will be other BHTA member retailers or social enterprise charities such as, for example Brighter Futures in Lancashire or Ability Aware in Staffordshire. Our promotional leaflets provide an additional discount to customers when buying from Medequip or these partners.

Retail Marketing

Medequip produce a range of leaflets, product catalogues and advertisements to promote our retail services. These are distributed widely – via doctors surgeries, council contact points and at all our promotional events across our operational areas.
