Continuing the company’s established programme of local engagement and co-production, community equipment specialists Medequip have signed up for a corporate Gold Friendship with Ipswich Town Foundation. Coming at a time when the football club has just won promotion to the Premier League, there’s a real buzz in the town, and Medequip is delighted to have an opportunity to support the vital work carried out by this dynamic charitable Foundation.
Now in its fifth year, Ipswich Town Foundation currently manages twenty-nine diverse and innovative schemes across Suffolk, reaching people in need in the local community. These range from dementia cafés through to providing activities and pathways for young teens to divert them away from drug and knife crime, as well as fun activities and courses for young people of all ages and abilities across Suffolk and the surrounding areas, including Powerchair Football.
Andrea Clifton, Account Manager at Medequip’s Suffolk depot, explained why the company saw the Foundation as such a good fit for its community engagement programme. “Last year, we had the opportunity to provide support for the club by donating wheelchairs to improve accessibility at the Portman Road ground,” she stated. “We were so impressed with the scope and organisation of the Foundation’s work. Medequip often opts to support charities where we can have an active involvement through our staff volunteering scheme. The Foundation already has an impressive infrastructure in place, and by committing to a Gold Friendship we can donate funds which will be put to best use through established local links and expertise.”
“We’re delighted to welcome Medequip as a Gold Friend to the Foundation,” stated Dan Palfrey, Director of Ipswich Town Foundation. “Our Friend of the Foundation scheme is an important part of our fundraising initiatives, bringing businesses and supporters into the Ipswich Town family and helping us to deliver a whole range of important local initiatives. Community needs are increasing year on year, and funding is becoming ever more challenging; we rely on the generosity of local businesses and our loyal supporters to help us achieve our goals, which currently see over 9,000 young people and vulnerable adults engaged with our schemes on a weekly basis.”
