Driving Continuous Improvements in Catalogue Management

Example of Medequip special stock

With a continuously growing and diversifying product portfolio covering both Community Equipment and TEC services, in 2025 Medequip identified that effective management of online product information was becoming ever more challenging.

With the focus on improving data accuracy, optimising operational efficiencies and promoting customer confidence, Medequip has appointed two dedicated Digital Catalogue Managers to centralise and professionalise this vital function.

Establishing this team to manage the product catalogue is expected to further elevate Medequip’s digital presence and ensure product data aligns with brand and regulatory standards. This will lead to better internal collaboration between clinical and product managers and improved engagement with our customers, who rely on accurate online information.

In addition, Medequip anticipates improved turnaround times for new product listings and updates as well as increased alignment with industry-specific compliance requirements including MDR (Medical Device Regulation) and procurement framework requirements such as NHS Supply Chain.

Making a difference

Medequip welcomes Taran Panesar and Jessica Ciucci, who joined Medequip as our first Digital Catalogue Managers earlier this year. Their work has already made an impact, resulting in positive internal and external feedback and ensuring our medical equipment portfolio is accurately and effectively maintained and developed.

Working as a team, they have assumed responsibility for the digital catalogue across all platforms, including TCES, Supplier Portal and Medequip One. Liaising with product managers, clinical teams and suppliers, they are focused on managing data accuracy and compliance as well as ensuring that catalogue information reflects clinical best practice and meets the needs of prescribers.

Improving systems and processes

“Our key role is to look after the catalogue, from simple products through to complex items with multiple parts and accessories, facilitating easier access to accurate information for both Medequip and our contract customers,” explained Taran.

“We partner closely with the clinical team for training and learning purposes, as well as the specialist teams in our depots, product managers, purchasing teams and NHS specialists, working with the professionals to create accurate templates designed to simplify and speed up the information process,” added Jessica.

There are challenges for the team, too, managing and balancing the specific outcomes required by different parts of the business. Working on changing and improving existing processes and systems is as essential part of their work, going forward.

Both Taran and Jessica have praised the level of support they continue to enjoy from Medequip’s clinical, procurement and depot teams. “The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with colleagues and customers reporting that where it once took a long time to research and secure information, it’s now so much quicker and easier,” said Jessica. “That feedback is really rewarding for us,” added Taran. “Making a difference and contributing to efficiency and effectiveness for other people’s jobs too means we enjoy a great level of job satisfaction.”

In addition, their work is raising confidence in prescribers who are now able to access much more accurate templates for specials in particular. This is already making an important contribution to supporting improved recycling of these specials for Medequip contracts, resulting in financial savings and faster access to equipment for the people who rely on our services.
