Adaptations

Medequip have extensive experience of providing adaptations across our 38 CES Contracts, carrying out 1,000,000 activities annually Companywide.

All works are carried out by highly qualified, Medequip Technicians, following free-of-charge quotations. Training and competency is subject to regular audit, ensuring industry standards are met/exceeding during all activities, with all goods utilised checked and tested for safety and technical capability. Adaptations include:

  • Ramps, Steps and bespoke Access Solutions
  • Specialised Electrical Adaptations
  • Grab Rails, Bannister Solutions, Outdoor galvanised railing
  • Plumbing works for easier functionality
  • Security Solutions, key safes for trusted visitors to the home
  • Handy man services and general maintenance

Company Standards

Company standards and processes are detailed in our integrated Medequip Processes (MQPs) with assurance that adaptations are carried out to a high standard achieved through:

  • Comprehensive equipment and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) training (with periodic refresher and top-up training provided)
  • Mentoring and continual support during induction
  • Management and Supervisory monitoring of ability
  • Utilisation and analysis of Prescriber and Service User feedback

Support Facilities

Medequip’s Procurement department and IT systems support the selection and installation of the most suitable equipment; providing bespoke solutions in a safe and effective manner, all tailored to specific User homes and needs.

The OEM training provided to our Technicians is also offered at our DDA compliant facilities, providing Prescribers, Clinicians, OTs and Carers with the knowledge and skills to ensure adaptations are maintained in line with Legislative and Company standards, ensuring safe usage at all times.

We now operate 38 contracts nationwide, receiving referrals from 80,000 Prescribers and carrying out more than 1.4 million activities per annum.

Staff Training

Mandatory staff training, provided by our Learning Management System (LMS), delivered by our HR and SHEQ Managers, covers compliance with:

Our Mandatory Training Module contains advice and information relating to Task, Individual, Load and Environment (T.I.L.E). Critical safety behaviour such as “Stop, Think, Check and Do” is enforced throughout these on-line training modules, which are part of our on-line LMS.

The requisite skills required of a Minor Adaptations Technician, to deliver a quality, safe and compliant adaptation are regularly assessed. Skills gap analysis is identified during LMS training and refresher training provided where appropriate. All training requirements are prioritised and documented in individual personnel files for auditing purposes, with competency assessments carried out on an on-going basis to maintain quality standards.
