Our Corporate Social Responsibility Policy Statement details how Medequip takes account of its economic, social and environmental impact in the way it operates as a business.

Our mission is to enhance care delivery, patient independence and rehabilitation effectiveness by combining appropriate equipment and outstanding service in the community care and homecare settings.

All Social Value Commitments and targets are measured and reported to Commissioners through our Monthly Management Information suite.

Employ Locally

We always employ staff locally. We utilise local recruitment agencies and always train staff locally. All of our staff are paid, as a minimum, the living wage.

All staff are be given the opportunity to improve their skill levels, through NVQ qualifications and our Future Leaders programme.

Apprenticeships

We provide Apprenticeship opportunities across all of contracts. Working closely with local DWP/Job Centre Plus initiatives across the UK, we currently provide 17 apprenticeships throughout our network. We will provide over 60 apprenticeships over the next 5 years.

Work Experience Programme:

We work closely with local Colleges/schools to provide a meaningful Work Experience Programme, tailored specifically to ensure local needs are met.

Our work experience programme includes career mentoring, mock interviews, CV advice, and careers guidance.

Support The Local Economy/Retailers

As a leading provider of Community Equipment, we purchase in excess of £55m worth of equipment annually. Wherever possible, we utilise local suppliers for:

  • Equipment (including specialist Equipment)
  • Staff Training
  • Staff Recruitment
  • Vehicle Maintenance

Support Local Communities/Initiatives

  • We provide access to ADL Smartcare (the industry leading self-assessment tool) free of charge to all of our Customers.
  • We work closely with a variety of Local and National Charities, Third-Sector and Voluntary Organisations.
  • We are proud to be an official partner of the Alzheimer’s Society.
  • Each staff member is given one paid days leave to assist a local charity.
  • We actively participate with and create Service User Forums across all of our contracts to ensure inclusiveness.
  • We provide a dedicated annual budget (taken from central overheads) across all of our contracts for local sponsorships and events.

  • Health and Care partners, including equipment retailers
  • Our SEO-optimised retail interface
  • Links to Medequip from partner web sites
  • Working closely with local Pharmacies, Libraries and Community Centres

Deliver Environmental Commitments

Our commitments are embedded in our ISO:14001 accreditation and include:

  • Greener driving: training, supervision, tracking and on-board cameras reinforcing fuel economy
  • Less-Paper approach
  • Efficient meetings: using Go-To-Meetings/MS Lync to meet virtually, reducing emissions and ‘dead-time’
  • Green handling: local drop-off/collection, encouraging Service User self-help, while reducing trips
  • Waste management: using segregation at-source and compactors to minimise collection frequency
  • Routing: planning manifests against traffic analytics to obtain effective journeys and delivery sequences
  • Vehicles: Euro 6 jumbo vans, balancing fuel efficiency with greater carrying capacity.
