What support is available to help me keep independent?
If you have a disability and/or experience difficulty completing daily tasks, you have a couple of options:
Community Equipment Loan Service
The service provides a range of equipment to help you live independently. This is funded by your local Council and NHS, where Medequip provides the equipment on loan and includes delivery and fitting, servicing, collection and recycling.
You may be eligible for specific equipment following an assessment, where health or social care prescribers, such as an Occupational Therapist, can work with you to find ways of managing tasks and offer advice and potential solutions.
To access equipment and request an assessment, you can ask your GP for a referral, or if you are to be discharged from hospital, an assessment can be arranged.

To make sure community equipment remains safe and in good working order, Medequip carries out regular Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPMs) visits. These checks help identify wear and tear, ensure the equipment continues to meet safety standards, and give peace of mind to the people who use it.
If you believe you have equipment that is due or overdue for planned maintenance — previously managed by NRS Healthcare — please contact Medequip by emailing doncaster@medequip-uk.com or calling 01302 203853. Our team will check the maintenance schedule and arrange a visit if required to ensure your equipment remains safe and in good working order.
Returning Equipment
If you have already benefited from equipment loaned to you that you no longer need, you can request a free collection so we can recycle and help others in need. Contact us on 01302 203853 or email doncaster@medequip-uk.com.
Equipment with a Medequip label can be returned directly to any of the drop off points on the following map.
