Automated Telephony To Go Live for Medway

As part of a sustained drive to encourage returns, increase collections and drive up recycling rates for the Medway contract area, Medequip has partnered with CC2i, a public sector co-funding and collaboration platform specialising in digital solutions, to implement an automated telephony project scheduled to go live later this year.

First initiated by Medway, the project uses recorded telephone messaging to contact people who have Medequip equipment prescribed for use on loan, to determine their continued need for the products or to encourage returns if applicable.

All the messages have been recorded by Medequip’s Medway depot manager to achieve a friendly and approachable tone. The automated requests provide people with options to keep equipment, return it, request repairs and always with an opportunity to be transferred to a person if they have any questions or concerns.

Simple press button actions allow the recipients of the calls to make their individual choices in line with their needs. In the event of selecting to return equipment, they are provided with clear information on how best to do this.

Commenting for Medequip, Fiona Kayes, Partnership Manager for Medequip, explained the potential benefits behind the new system. “The automated approach gives us valuable added capacity to follow up on all types of equipment out in the community,” she stated. “In addition to encouraging returns and recycling, it will collate information to track and report on how the process is working in terms of types of equipment returned and volumes.”

The system will go live in October, and this pilot will be carefully monitored by Medequip to assess its value for implementation in other depots across the country.
