Managing a fleet of vehicles presents a range of challenges for businesses looking to improve efficiencies and increase productivity. Medequip continues to make significant investments in fleet monitoring technology and efficiency measures, seeking to streamline operations, further improve services and reduce costs.
In 2025, Medequip deployed the Tranzaura FleetNOW asset management system which enables the company’s logistics team to host all fleet information on one platform, using an asset database to monitor, manage and maintain vehicles operating across the country.
Real-time dashboards powered by AI mean the team can now centrally monitor the life cycle and performance of the fleet, consolidating information and achieving best practice around instant reporting, working to create a safer and more engaged culture.
Accurate planning and reporting
Richard Horton, Head of Fleet for Medequip, is clear about the advantages. “Consolidation of fleet reporting gives us a holistic view of the fleet at a glance,” he confirmed. “This saves time and enables us to plan and report much more accurately. As a result, we are able to rationalise assets and resources, with the right vehicles in the right place at the right time, ensuring we optimise value for money across all our community equipment contracts.”
In addition, the logistics team can now conduct remote electronic checks on vehicles with access to instant diagnostics, identifying when and where vehicles have may defects, improving planning, reducing vehicle downtime and achieving fast and efficient repairs where necessary.
Access to information dashboards at depot level
Using the new fleet management system, business reporting has moved on significantly in the last twelve months. Accessible dashboards have been set up for the individual depots, providing reports on areas as diverse as mpg reporting and vehicle efficiencies. Telematics have been consolidated into six Medequip depots to demonstrate value add, with plans to expand this facility nationally in the coming months to more locations.
“We have spent the past twelve months consolidating our knowledge and experience and can now move towards identifying trends and planning for a more efficient and sustainable future,” explained Richard. “We have also moved towards greater incident management reporting and investigations to ensure we are working towards reducing repeat instances that may happen, reporting on every aspect to improve our understanding and support our driver technicians with digital tools in the event of road traffic incidents.”
For Medequip as a business, accurate reporting is critical at board level and senior management level. These recent investments enable the company to be more agile, bringing together the relevant data to support business decisions.
Working towards net zero by 2030
Medequip currently operates a fleet of over eight hundred vehicles, with a mix of diesel and full electric. Carbon reduction target to switch from diesel to electric by 2030 are on track, in line with matching individual contract requirements seeking to expedite the changeover from fossil fuels to electric.
