Medequip is proud to announce that it has been recognised as a Disability Confident Leader, the highest level within the UK Government’s Disability Confident scheme. This prestigious accreditation reflects the organisation’s ongoing commitment to creating an inclusive workplace and supporting people with disabilities and long-term health conditions.
The Disability Confident scheme is designed to help employers recruit, retain and develop disabled people and those with health conditions. Achieving Level 3 – Disability Confident Leader status requires organisations to undergo external validation and demonstrate clear leadership in championing disability inclusion, both internally and across the wider community.
Medequip’s status has been formally validated by BASE and Inclusive Trading CIC, recognising the strength of its approach and the meaningful steps taken to embed inclusive practices across the organisation.
As part of this journey, Medequip has aligned its processes across the full employee lifecycle. Enhancements have been made to recruitment policies, alongside the introduction of a working interview process designed to provide candidates with the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities in a supportive environment. Roles are also advertised on the Department for Work and Pensions platform, helping to reach a broader and more diverse talent pool.
Support for colleagues continues beyond recruitment. Dedicated meetings are held with disabled employees every six months, ensuring individuals feel supported and able to thrive in their roles. In addition, Medequip has actively engaged with industry conferences to further develop its understanding of disability inclusion and to share best practice with others.
These initiatives reinforce Medequip’s commitment to building an inclusive culture where employees feel valued, supported and confident in their workplace.
Aditi Dave, HR Business Partner at Medequip, said: “My message at the BASE Conference was simple: keep moving forward and do not give up, no matter the barriers. That is exactly what this achievement represents for Medequip — progress, persistence, and a continued commitment to breaking down barriers for disabled people in the workplace.”
Achieving Disability Confident Leader status not only strengthens the organisation’s internal practices but also positions Medequip as an advocate for disability inclusion across the wider community. Through continued collaboration and leadership, Medequip remains committed to driving positive change and supporting greater accessibility and inclusion for all.
