Medequip Staff with Royal British Legion Heroes

The Royal British Legion (RBL) is one of the UK’s most prominent charities, providing lifelong support to serving and ex-serving members of the Armed Forces and their families, focusing on welfare, remembrance, and community engagement.

At Medequip, we have proudly worked alongside the Royal British Legion for many years in support of the annual Poppy Appeal. Through our people, fleet of vehicles, and volunteer scheme, we provide valuable logistical support, staff donation collection points, and help raise awareness of the Appeal and the support it provides to the Armed Forces community.

However, the work of the RBL continues all year round, and opportunities to engage with communities in support of the Armed Forces community are not limited to the weeks of the Poppy Appeal leading up to Remembrance, but exist throughout the year. Medequip people get a lot of personal satisfaction from helping the charity using our company-sponsored volunteering hours and also the commitment of individuals in their own time, and we would encourage other businesses to do the same.

Just round the corner is Armed Forces Day, which takes place on the last Saturday of June, falling this year on Saturday 27 June and celebrating all the different work done by the armed forces. It also marks the culmination of a week of celebrations which includes Reserves Day on 24 June.

All of these events give people in the UK the chance to show their support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community, from currently serving personnel to service families, veterans and cadets.

From family days through to musical tributes, parades and bands and picnics in the park, there’s something for everyone - if you would like to attend an event take a look at what’s planned for your local area. Find Events – Armed Forces Day

Why not consider helping out? RBL needs volunteers at all times of the year, and you don’t need to have any links with armed forces, just a passion for helping people. It’s a vibrant volunteering community with 95% of those who join in choosing to come back year after year.

There are so many different ways for people, communities and organisations to show support and get involved - visit the RBL volunteering link to get started!
