Following significant investment last year in Medequip’s London-based depots at Heathrow and Woodford, performance at the two sites continues to consistently surpass specified contract targets and KPIs. In September, the on-time measure for deliveries and collections from the Heathrow depot reached 99.11%
For our London depots, new opportunities to provide practical assistance to supplement OT resources for our contract partners have also emerged this year. The MHRA alert on bed levers issued in 2023 and implemented in March 2024 presented a significant operational challenge in the current climate, requiring thousands of individual risk assessments and ongoing reviews to be carried out within a short time frame.
Medequip has been assisting with the requisite reviews by providing trained and competent staff to manage and complete lower-level, non-complex assessments, supporting OT resources on a number of contracts. This work includes updating the TCES system information for service users, completing the necessary forms and adding to the system to track progress.
Work continues in support of Medequip’s zero emissions by 2030 targets. Preparing for the growing EV fleet, the Woodford depot is now equipped with electrical charging points, and more chargers are planned for Heathrow later this year.
Community engagement is also a focus for the two Medequip depots. Working with Hounslow, discussions are already in the early stages around the concept of the asset-based community development model (ABCD), with a view to collaborating in joint working with Voluntary Community Sector (VCS) partners, adding social value.
Staff from both Heathrow and Woodford continue to volunteer their services at local nursing homes and food banks as part of Medequip’s ongoing volunteering initiative.
