Medequip Connect Stages Second Annual TEC Conference

Presentation at Medequip Connect Conference

The second Annual Conference staged by technology enabled care specialists Medequip Connect successfully brought together more than 70 attendees from local authorities, TEC specialists and professional bodies. The key objective was the share best practice at an innovation forum examining what is available on the market to discover the art of the possible in proactive social care.

The shift towards proactive and preventative care combining both prevention and early interventions has been identified as a step change in social care. Reducing and delaying care needs alongside unplanned hospital admissions reduces pressures on the NHS and social services as well as enhancing quality of life, enabling people to live safely and independently for longer.

Product presentations

Held on 6 November 2025 at the Welcombe Hotel in Stratford upon Avon, the Conference began with a series of supplier showcases demonstrating TEC innovations. Presentations included the Sentai voice enabled digital companion for independent living, The Evondos® automated medicine dispensing service, Chiptech digital telecare and personal safety products and Enovation connected care solutions.

Derbyshire Council’s experiences with TEC

These were followed by a presentation outlining Derbyshire Council’s TEC journey with Medequip Connect, given by Natalie Davidson, Commissioning Service Manager (Technology Enabled Care) and Jackie Ibbotson, TEC Regional Operations Manager (North). Here, they outlined their experiences in implementing one of the UK’s most complex and challenging TEC projects to date, bringing together community alarm and telecare provision originally delivered by eight different district councils on a single digital platform – one of the first areas in the country to be fully digital.

Proactive and preventative TEC

Rupert Lawrence, head of Medequip Connect, then spoke about the company’s growing proactive and preventative service, with the potential for improved outcomes, enhanced quality of life and improved sustainability and efficiency for health and social care services in the UK.

Digital transformations

The TEC Services Association (TSA), the independent advisory body for the technology enabled care sector, gave a joint presentation with the Access Group. Charlotte Downing, Membership and Engagement Presentation for the TSA, Nerys Hebden, Head of TEC Customer Enablement at Access and Alex Nash, Founder and Head of Strategy Access discussed TEC sector updates and the digital transformation in planning and development of systems which improve service user data and connecting data with care technology devices in people’s homes.

A post-Conference survey has yielded very positive responses to the content covered, with the third Annual Conference planned for November 2026.
