Corporate charity partnerships provide a valuable route to foster positive impacts and outcomes both within the business itself and for the chosen charity. Following a poll carried out across the company, community equipment services specialists Medequip have chosen to partner with Prostate Cancer UK for 2026.
All monies raised will be used to support the work of the charity in developing awareness of the most common cancer in men and helping fund research to find better diagnostic tests and treatments.
Commitment to social responsibility is an important part of Medequip’s corporate culture, and there are compelling reasons for the business to establish strong charitable partnerships, with employee engagement in fundraising and support initiatives fostering both teamwork and collaboration.
Medequip decided upon a democratic process involving the entire workforce when choosing the partnership for 2026, with a series of polls conducted via the company’s Blink internet platform to determine which was the most popular and impactful charity aligned to Medequip’s own values.
Over a six-week period, staff voted on more than forty charities, with Prostate Cancer UK emerging as the people’s choice, winning a landslide victory which demonstrates the increasing profile of prostate cancer in the UK and importance of the work carried out by the organisation.
The facts speak for themselves. One in eight men will get prostate cancer in their lifetime, a risk which doubles for black men. More than 63,000 men in the UK are diagnosed each year with prostate cancer, and 12,000 will lose their lives. In 2023/2024, the charity spent a total of £25 million into research for prostate cancer.
Medequip’s Charity Committee is now beginning the conversations with Prostate Cancer UK to establish where and how Medequip’s efforts will fit into the charity’s own marketing calendar. “We’re excited to participate in some of the more established events such as the Big Golf Race, the Peak District Ultra Challenge and the Brew and Bake initiatives,” stated Tom Rogers for Medequip. “We’ll also be staging our own events across our countrywide network of depots, involving all our people in creative and fun ways to raise money to support the important work of Prostate Cancer UK.”
"We are delighted to be partnering with Medequip to raise valuable funds for research into earlier diagnosis and to help us reach men across the country with vital risk awareness information,” said James Steven, Head of Partnerships at Prostate Cancer UK. “Until we have a nationwide screening programme, men understanding their risk of the disease is the best way to help save lives, and we are looking forward to working with Medequip to help us achieve that."
